Established in 1899, 10 years after the Bulgarian Military Cross for 10 years of excellent and loyal service. The distinction was intended for officers and, on 7 april 1933 for non - commissioned officers who had spent 20 years of continous military service.
The 20 Years Service Cross for non commissioned officers has 39 mm long cross arms, and it is entirely made of bright - bronze coloured metal alloy. It was manufactured starting from August 1933.
The Long Service Crosses were worn on the left breast suspended from a triangular ribbon consisting of the colours of the Saxe - Coburg - Gotha flag: yellow, black and white.
There were also special decoration for 10 and 20 years of excellent service: each of them was unique specimen; the sole to be awarded with them was King Boris III.
